What It Is
A Meta Business Portfolio (formerly called Meta Business Manager) is the top-level container for business assets in Meta. For WhatsApp Cloud API, it is the container that owns one or more WhatsApp Business Accounts (WABAs).
Why It Matters for Dualhook
To connect WhatsApp assets in Dualhook, your business must have a Meta Business Portfolio. Without it, you cannot complete standard WhatsApp platform onboarding.
Key Concepts
- A company can have multiple portfolios, but one primary portfolio is usually the cleanest setup.
- One portfolio can contain multiple WABAs.
- A portfolio can register up to 20 phone numbers (subject to Meta policy and account state).
- Each portfolio has a unique Business ID.
Before Creating a New Portfolio
- Confirm one does not already exist for your organization.
- Ensure the user creating it has the correct Meta Business permissions.
- Use a real business name and business email that match your legal entity details.
Creating duplicate portfolios without a clear reason often causes avoidable ownership and permission problems later.
How to Create a Portfolio
- Go to
business.facebook.comand sign in. - Open the business selector (top-left menu).
- Click Create a business portfolio.
- Enter your business name and required contact details.
- Complete the email verification flow if prompted.
Creation via Embedded Signup
A portfolio can also be created during Embedded Signup, depending on the onboarding path and account state. This is useful when setting up WhatsApp assets directly during integration.
Business Verification
A Business Portfolio can be verified by Meta. Verification can unlock additional capabilities, such as higher messaging capacity and eligibility for Official Business Account features.
See Meta Business Verification for details on verification paths.
